My sewing helpers

There are lots of different sewing supplies on the market which might (or might not) make your sewing life easier and faster. Here is an overview of the tools that I won’t miss at my work space. Maybe you can adapt one or more ideas for you.

Essential cutting materials:

When it comes to sew a good fabric scissors is essential. Please never cut paper with it. This can cause damage to the high-quality steel.

A professional and sharp detail scissors is perfect to cut thread or fabric precisely. I use them also for my embroidered iron-on-patches.

Trimming seam allowances with pinking shears prevent raw edges from frying. You can make decorating cuts with them, too.

If you sew often and/or with large fabric pieces, a set of ruler, rotary cutter and 24”x36” self-healing cutting mat are really a big time saver.

Little ‘Wonders’:

Wonder Clips are great since they are so easy and quick to use without destroying your fabric.

Fusible Wash away Wonder Tape makes easy hems to your fabric.

An air-erasable Fabric Marking Pen disappears after a while.

The Fabric Glue Stick holds seams, appliques,
ribbons and even zippers in place before sewing.
